Dr. Larry Goodpaster Will Become Our Bishop On September 1st

The Episcopacy Committee of the Southeastern Jurisdictional Conference has assigned Dr. Larry M. Goodpaster to be the Bishop of the Western NC Conference following the retirement of Bishop Lawrence McCleskey on August 31. Bishop Goodpaster was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in Indiana and Mississippi before being elected Bishop of the Alabama-West Florida Conference in 2000. He is a graduate of Millsaps College and holds the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Candler School of Theology at Emory. He and his wife, Deborah, have two children and two grandchildren.
