Dr. Tom Herin came to College Place in 2006 after serving churches in Boone, Kernersville, and Charlotte and after planning for and helping to organize five new Methodist congregations in the Charlotte area.

Growing up in the heart of Miami, Florida, living four years as a graduate student in Manhattan, and working with numerous public-private partnerships in Charlotte, have given Tom a deep appreciation for the energy and creativity of an urban environment, and he and his wife Miriam have purchased a home in the College Hill Historic District.

As a life-long student of the Bible with a Ph.D. in New Testament and Preaching from Union Theological Seminary in New York, Tom enjoys helping people to discover what the Bible really says, to grow in their personal faith, and to find ways to use their unique gifts in serving others. He has been excited to discover the deep commitment of College Place Church to the needs of students and faculty, the welfare of this diverse city, and the international nature of the Christian Church and its mission.
